Matthias Endres is new member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina

In recognition of his scientific achievements, Professor Matthias Endres was elected in July 2016 as a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, one of the most prestigious scientific awards given by a German institution.

Professor Endres is primarily active in the field of stroke research, with special emphasis on mechanisms of stroke prevention, mechanisms of cell death, neurological regeneration and outcome, and clinical studies.

Founded in 1652, the Leopoldina is dedicated to the advancement of science for the benefit of humankind and to the goal of shaping a better future. With some 1,500 members, the Leopoldina brings together outstanding scientists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries.
