Dietmar Schmitz Receives the 2026 FKNE Mentoring Prize

Dietmar Schmitz has been awarded the 2026 FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence (FKNE) Mentoring Prize.
The prize recognises outstanding commitment to mentoring and supporting early-career neuroscientists. According to the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence, Professor Schmitz was nominated by current and former mentees and selected for his dedication to fostering scientific independence, encouraging researchers to develop their own scientific perspectives, and creating a supportive and inclusive research environment.
The FKNE Mentoring Prize is awarded every two years and honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the professional development of neuroscientists through mentorship and leadership.
The award will be presented during the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) Forum 2026 in Barcelona on 9 July 2026.
