Ulrich Dirnagl receives award for new quality standards in biomedical research

Professor Ulrich Dirnagl has received an award for new quality standards in biomedical research from the Herzzentrum Münster Foundation. At the award ceremony on February 17, 2017, the BIH faculty member gave a lecture on stroke detection and treatment. The same day, five previously selected young scientists had the opportunity to discuss their research with Dirnagl in a "Masterclass".
In addition, on 16 February, Dirnagl gave a lecture on his research in the Grand Lecture Hall of the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster. Dirnagl's research focuses on mechanisms of damage and protective responses, as well as on the interaction between the brain and other systems in the body following stroke.
Dirnagl is Director of the Department of Experimental Neurology at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, as well as a member of the Executive Board of the Center for Stroke Research Berlin (CSB) and Deputy Coordinator of the Cluster of Excellence NeuroCure.
The Herzzentrum Münster e.V. is an association of clinics and institutes of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. This alliance supports the Herzzentrum Münster in its efforts to optimize the treatment and research of heart diseases.
