Career Development Support

We believe it is important to provide early career researchers with guidance and support in navigating their professional paths. To support informed decisions as early as possible, we have started to provide a variety of resources to help explore different opportunities and develop a career strategy.

Short job profiles, based on questionnaires answered by alumnae and alumni from our community, give an overview of career options in different sectors, including industry and academia. Job profiles are available on the Berlin Neuroscience Network.

The Career Lunch Talk is an exciting low-threshold opportunity to listen to stories of former Berlin neuroscientists, and ask questions related to their professional journeys, key decisions, and former and current roles.

The Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin has developed an Individual Development Plan that guides PhD students in reflecting on their skills, interests, values, and visions, and in developing an individual training strategy to pursue their professional goals. The IDP is available for others upon request.

Both, NeuroCure and the Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin also offer workshops on career topics.

Career Development Initiative (CDI)

The Career Development Initiative (CDI) is an organization run by life science master's and doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows who envision a change in the culture of career development in the Berlin academic community. Defining one’s path is a major challenge, with many unforeseen obstacles. The CDI’s goal is to create a culture that empowers students and postdocs to explore their options. The initiative organizes and promotes lecture series, workshops, and events, such as the Career Exploration Days, Career Preparation Days, and the Career Finder Day, with the aim to provide a stepping stone for their peers to define and take control of their futures.
