Empowering Women Scientists
Promoting equal opportunity among researchers is one of NeuroCure's declared objectives. Women are still underrepresented at higher academic levels. To counteract this, NeuroCure has developed measures to sustainably increase the proportion of female scientists in higher academic positions, including:
- NeuroCure Research Fellowships for Female Postdocs in the Neurosciences
- Structured mentoring with experienced NeuroCure scientists for new recruits
- Option for female new recruits or NeuroCure Research Fellows to participate in the Charité Mentoring Competence Center program for female scientists
Through NeuroCure's successful strategy, the proportion of female principal investigators within the Cluster has increased from 12% to 26% among Member PIs, and 39% among NeuroCure PIs overall, including newly recruited junior group leaders. In the event the Cluster is granted further funding, 52% of our Member PIs will be women in the next funding period.
