Cancelled: Alternatives to Animal Models in Biomedical Research
Date: March 23rd – 27th 2020, 9.00 am – approx. 5.00 pm
Animal experimentation is still playing a major role within the field of biomedical and translational research. However, due to limited transferability on the one side as well as strong technological progress and ethical concerns on the other, alternative models get more in focus to address central scientific questions.
The 1-week PhD course Alternatives to Animal Models in Biomedical Research – the Principles of 3Rs will introduce the current developments in this filed along the 3Rs principles of “Replacement, Reduction and Refinement”. In lectures and hands-on sessions, Charité research groups will present innovative methods such as 3D (bio-)printing, organoids or in silico modelling and how these could contribute to minimize animal use. Moreover, in interactive seminars we will discuss ethical aspects of how animal welfare in biomedical research could be improved.
Registration is now open!
Attendance of PhD students will be awarded with 2.9 ECTS-CP.
