Meet the scientist: Scars in the brain

People adapt to their environment, also through changes in the brain. This widely observed phenomenon is particularly pronounced in childhood. Therefore, both positive and negative conditions during early development can have particularly long-lasting effects on brain functions. In the StressBrainAge study, scientists from NeuroCure are investigating the connection between stress factors in childhood and inflammation and ageing processes in the brain. During Meet the Scientist, Lara Fleck and Christine Heim explain whether such experiences increase the risk of neurological diseases in old age.

Location: Humboldt Lab, 1st floor.
