Berlin Brains - Evolution of the human brain
In the course of evolution, human brains became more and more cognitively efficient. What genetic changes led to it? And how do you test whether a genetic change changes cognitive abilities? Katja Nowick and Jeong-Eun Lee explain how their working group uses bioinformatic methods to identify human-specific gene sequences that are relevant for the evolution of our brain. And they report on how they test such gene sequences for their function.
