The Methodological Metamorphosis of Neuroscience

Abstract:

Many researchers are concerned that published empirical findings may be difficult or impossible to reproduce. This concern has spawned the Open Science movement, an interdisciplinary and informal confederation of researchers who combat poor research practices by emphasizing transparency in all stages of the research process. In a few years, the Open Science movement has revolutionized the field of psychology, and has started to make inroads in neuroscience as well. The revolution brings challenges but also presents exciting new possibilities. In this presentation I will summarize the current initiatives that will hopefully result in a neuroscience that is more reproducible, more open, and more fun.
