Exploring the nervous system and developing new therapies

NeuroCure is a Cluster of Excellence in the neurosciences, focusing on the study of neurological and psychiatric disorders. As an interdisciplinary network, NeuroCure aims to deepen our understanding of disease mechanisms and develop innovative therapies.
The Cluster strengthens local scientific networks and research activities while establishing new research groups and technological platforms. By fostering close collaboration between basic and clinical research, NeuroCure accelerates the translation of scientific findings into clinical applications. A key priority is supporting early-career researchers and creating sustainable structures to promote diversity within the research community.

NeuroCure has been funded by the German federal and state governments since 2007 – initially under the Excellence Initiative and, since 2019, as part of the Excellence Strategy. The current funding phase runs from 2026 to 2032.
